The Story of CiC Architects
Our Beginning
Our journey began with English Brothers over 15 years ago, as lead design and planning consultant. Experience in the construction sector working across residential, commercial and education sectors since 2003. Experience as a local authority planner, private sector planning and design consultant, senior management in practice and senior lecturer in Architecture, before setting up practice in 2021.
Our Approach
I adopt a multi-disciplinary, collaborative approach to design, focussing on all aspects of our being (our sensory response to space), with the intention of providing architecture and space that results in a better holistic environment. It is clear that an emotional and behavioural response will take place when we enter a space, no matter whether we are aware of the intricacies of the sensory stimulation or not. For that reason, as architects and designers we have a great responsibility to provide healthy environments for all to enjoy.
Our Inspiration
My favourite type of design is anything well considered, clever and beautiful. I started life as an Industrial Designer learning how to machine anything in our environment that needed to be designed, from tools to furniture, even some experience creating new ideas for Lego. There is a pleasure in Heath Robinson’s work (look him up if you don’t know him), right through to the beautiful work of classical architect’s such as Palladio, ground breakers like Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier, to contemporary architects Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry and Richard Rogers (to name only a few) all who I have admired since a young age.
